A locomotive and ten cars collapsed through a bridge on the Green Bay & Minnesota RR between Elm Lake and Dexterville on May 7, 1881. The engineer was seriously hurt. The cause was arson.

It took only four hours for the car ferries to cross Lake Michigan, as he proudly shows on his pocket watch. I took the car ferry across Lake Michigan in the mid-1970's and to be truthful, it took about another hour to load and unload the cars from the car ferry at each end.
