RS-20 #306 and C-424 #312 push GBW's X190 plow the morning after a heavy snowfall.
Wisconsin Rapids residents woke up on the morning of December 5, 1985 to
several inches of fresh snowfall! While they found themselves with the daunting chore of digging out their sidewalks and driveways, the Green Bay Route faced the even larger task of getting its cross-state mainline open for business.
Snow removal on the GBW was handled by plow X190, a
Jordan Spreader acquired second-hand from the Wisconsin & Michigan RR about 1935.
On this morning snow plow train Extra 306 East was dispatched for the job and was photographed on the east side of Wisconsin Rapids at 9:46 AM.
The headlight on the plow was salvaged from one of the GBW 401-406 steam locomotives, the zenith of steam power on the railroad. |
