The Green Bay & Western Railroad built its Norwood Street yard and shop facilities in 1898.  The buildings on the west side of Green Bay served as the operational headquarters of the railroad for one hundred years.  Unfortunately, after the railroad was absorbed by the Wisconsin Central, the facilities were deemed excess and were scrapped.

Franklin Fitzgerald was an engineer with the Green Bay Route from June 1954 right through August 1993, and he shared these pictures taken on January 15, 2000 with us.

Franklin's words sum up the situation wonderfully:

A really sad sight on the date I took the pictures. Companies love to say "merger" to be bigger and better, but I don't always agree.
