Transfer caboose #101, at Wisconsin Central's North Green Bay yard.
In this photo, GBW #101 is sitting on the coal house track in Wisconsin
Central's North Green Bay yard. It looks like they were thinking about repairing
the car before it had a little run in and got the frame bent on one end. They
had painted over all the rust spots on one side, but didn't finish the job on
the other.
The GB&W's transfer cabooses were built on the frames of scrapped wood
cabooses. Transfer cabooses rarely went over the main line, but were
usually assigned to trains that worked the industrial areas in Green Bay.
Thanks is due to Andy Laurent for giving
permission to display this photo on the Green Bay Route web site.
