Western Refrigerator Lines #9350-9351 were short-lived on the WRX roster
in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
This car is an insulated plate C boxcar built by Fruit Growers Express
at their shops in Alexandria, Virginia. FGE usually leased these
cars to individual railroads, but the WESTERN REFRIGERATOR
LINE OWNED lettering on the car indicates that this car was
an exception to that rule.
No other WRX freight cars had this unique color and paint scheme, with
the GREEN BAY ROUTE
herald located low and to the far right on the car. The Green Bay
& Western had two similar cars GBW
22090-22091 on their roster a few years later.
Walthers makes an HO scale model
of this car, but there is no decal set available. |
