This car is an insulated plate C boxcar built by Fruit Growers Express at their shops in Alexandria, Virginia. FGE usually leased these cars to individual railroads, but the WESTERN REFRIGERATOR LINE OWNED lettering on the car indicates that this car was an exception to that rule. No other WRX freight cars had this unique color and paint scheme, with
the Walthers makes an HO scale model of this car, but there is no decal set available. |
